Laurens gained her second Group 1 win on Sunday in The Gurkha Coolmore Prix Saint Alary at Longchamp under P J McDonald for Karl Burke.
The high-class three-year-old won the Fillies’ Mile last season and made her seasonal reappearance in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, where she finished second behind the Richard Hannon trained Billesdon Brook. Burke and owner John Dance have always stressed Laurens would not reach her full potential until she stepped up in trip, and the small field in France and the 10 furlongs trip proved successful.
The filly was part of Coulonces Sales’ first draft sold at GOFFS UK’s Premier Yearling Sale last year. She became the top priced filly at the sale, when knocked down for 220,000 GNS to John and Jessica Dance.
Congratulations to all connections!
