LAURENS showed impressive speed again today when finishing second in the Group 3 Prix du Calvados (1400m) at Deauville. The Karl Burke trained filly jumped the gates well and settled in midfield. She fought hard towards the last 500m to finish second behind Polydream (Oasis Dream). It was a promising run in what was only her second race start. The 2yo filly won easily on her frist start out in a Maiden Fillies´ Stakes race (7f) at Doncaster on 20 July.
Laurens is by Siyouni and out of Recambe (Cape Cross). The filly was part of Coulonces Sales’ first draft sold at GOFFS UK’s Premier Yearling Sale last year. She became the top priced filly at the sale, when knocked down for 220,000 GNS to John and Jessica Dance.
